On Saturday June 29th, a group from Hinde Street attended Pride in London to celebrate diversity and the amazing people who make up our city. A big thank you to all who attended and to those who were with us in spirit.
For us, Pride marks an occasion of wonderful joy with a serious message. As an inclusive church, we want to be part of the change that will make the world truly safe and welcoming for people who are LGBTQIA+. The world may not yet be equal or safe for everyone, but it must be made so. At this year’s Pride, several groups reminded us that how we vote can make a difference – our thanks to Methodist Church, Inclusive Church, OneBodyOneFaith and London District of the Methodist Church.
Following Saturday’s Parade, Hinde Street’s annual Pride service took place on Sunday at 11am. The church was decorated in joyful rainbow colours as a celebration of the beautiful diversity of people. This year, the sermon was delivered by Sally Rush, the Learning & Development Officer at the Methodist Church. In her sermon, Sally invited us to ‘discover the radical healing and compassion of Christ that wants you to be all you are without thinking you have to change your sexuality or gender identity.’ You can find a picture of Sally with Peter and Ruth down below.
