The Methodist movement began with small group gatherings (band meetings) where people got together to share their problems, challenges and hopes, and encouraged each other in the difficult business of putting their new faith into practice. It is an enduring belief among Methodists that connecting in small groups is a life-giving exercise – this is why we at Hinde Street are committed to running a wide range of our own classes and activity groups, as well as to continuing to host various 12 Step Groups on our premises.
On this page you can find information on all groups organised by Hinde Street. You can also learn more about 12 Step Groups here and our Wednesday club for the homeless community here.
If you are interested in making use of our church spaces by hosting a community group or activity, you can get in touch via email at office@hindestreet.org.uk

Classes
The aim of class meetings is to offer support, friendship and depth in your Christian journey. While all members of the church must be in a class, they are not confined to church members and welcome anyone in the congregation who wishes to share in their activities.
If you are interested in meeting regularly in a class, click below to read more. Our classes vary in what activities they focus on as well as where and how often they meet, with some even offering the option to join online – there is truly something for everyone!
Meditation
Come along on Tuesday at 1pm for an hour of peace and quiet in the heart of Marylebone, led by our Deacon Ruth Yorke and others. After the group has gathered, a reflection piece is presented at 1.15pm, after which there is a period of silence, followed by 15 minutes of sharing our thoughts with each other. The session officially ends at 2pm, but for the benefit of those taking part during their lunch hour, attendance is only necessary between 1:15-1:45pm.
You are welcome whether you can come regularly, or just want to drop in one week when you need some quiet space. You can join us in person or on Zoom by following the below link.

This is what some of our regulars have said about their experience at Meditation:
‘I like that it’s very inclusive – there is no requirement to believe in anything specific, or to meditate in any specific way. We just share silence together, which creates beloved community.’
‘I’ve had five years of one hour a week of peace. It’s a gift.’
‘A peaceful and friendly gathering of people, which is a reminder of how to be still, silent, and mindful in our lives. With inspirational readings that rejuvenate the soul.’
