New to Hinde Street?
If you are joining one of our services for the first time, you may find it helpful to know what you can expect when you turn up. We have compiled some information we hope you will find useful on this page, but do not hesitate to get in touch if you have further questions about our services, values, community, or anything else. We are happy to provide guidance on pastoral and spiritual matters alike.
Worship: We meet for regular Worship on Sundays at 11am, with additional services taking place some weeks in the mornings and evenings. Read more about the kinds of services we hold here.
Where to find us: Hinde Street Methodist Church is located in Marylebone, Central London – you can spot our spire on the idyllic Marylebone Lane. We are just a 5-minute walk away from Bond Street tube station, serviced by the Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth Lines. Find us on Google Maps here.
Disabled Access: Our disabled-access lift is located on the right side of the church building. You can follow the signposting to the lift and ring the buzzer for access.
Door Stewards: At our 9:30am and 11am services, a friendly Steward will greet you at the door and welcome you to the service. They would love to have a chat with you if you are new, but you are equally as welcome to take in the service quietly if you wish.
How long are our services? The length of our Sunday Worship varies somewhat, but generally you can expect the 11am Service to last for approximately 1h15min.
Quiet activities: At any of our our services, you are welcome to look through our sensory box and pick up any of our quiet activities or sensory aids to help you focus or relax during worship! Aside from what you can find in the box, we also invite you to bring your own preferred non-disruptive activities to church with you. Some of us love to knit while taking in the sermon!

What to wear? If you are unsure about what to wear to a service and how formally dressed others will be, a good rule-of-thumb is to choose whatever you might wear to meet a friend for coffee. For some people this is a suit, for other people much more casual – be comfortable!
Tattoos? Piercings? There’s no issue at all around tattoos or piercings. Come as you are. Welcome to share the story of visible tattoos if you like – we’ll be interested.
Oh no, I’m late!/I’ve got to run! We understand that London’s beloved public transport systems don’t always get there on time! Just come when you arrive and sit on any empty seat. If you need to leave before the end, this is not a problem either (though do stay for a cuppa and to say hello after the service if you can).
Wait, why are there tables in the church? You might have stumbled upon one of our occasional Café Church services. You can read more about Café Church here, or just take a seat and get ready to enjoy some refreshments and good conversation.
Church Lunch: On the last Sunday of most months, Hinde Street offers a Church Lunch, prepared by one of our classes. Following the 11am Worship, we head down the stairs into the Hall, where various food options are served. There is no set cost but contributions are welcome on an ‘as you are able’ basis. You are welcome to join in and mingle – all tables are communal and getting to know new people is encouraged!
