Peace Sunday with guest preacher John Cooper

This year’s Peace Sunday took place in what we know to be an increasingly turbulent world, one in which many feel ignored and left behind. However, as guest preacher John Cooper put it in this Sunday’s sermon, God’s love is always on offer, and so generously given it sometimes challenges us or even makes us uncomfortable. This love takes the form of a peace that is not simply the absence of war, but the flourishing and fullness of every human in every corner of this planet.

John’s sermon called us to actively do our part in guiding each other to this love, even in a world that finds it easier to choose the empty promise of violence than to do the hard work of peace. However, as we do so, it is important we remember to also grant ourselves a moment of peace when it is needed, so that we can continue to tend to others.

Thanks to our guest preacher John Cooper for his beautiful sermon. John is the Director of The Fellowship of Reconciliation – you can find out more about the work they do on their website at https://for.org.uk
