On Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September Hinde Street hosted Memories of Marylebone, an exhibition celebrating local life and history. Thanks to all who contributed to and visited the exhibition, including the Howard de Walden Estate, local artists, and various church members. Among the items on display were paintings, photographs, historical texts, and even a special Marylebone edition of Monopoly! It was a joy to explore our rich local history together and to share our personal memories of living, working and visiting in Marylebone over decades past. We were also overjoyed to welcome Councillors Barbara, Georgina and Henrietta from Portman Estate, and Ann Marie, exhibitor.
On Saturday, we also once more opened our doors for London’s Open House Festival and treated our visitors to a talk on history and architecture by Rev Peter Cornick. Organ music was also playing throughout the day as guests explored the exhibition alongside Hinde Street’s Grade II-listed chapel, designed by architect James Weir.
