Greenbelt is a Christian festival that celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. In their own words, ‘Greenbelt is where artistry, activism and belief meet’ – it is a festival that features the arts, social action, and worship in equal measure, highlighting the common ground between the three. The festival takes place annually on the green grounds of Boughton House near Kettering, where a small group of people from Hinde Street ventured last week to explore the wide variety of events and activities offered over four days. For Reverend Peter Cornick, highlights include Gordon Brown’s anti-poverty speech which gave the spotlight to the work of the Joint Public Issues Team. Peter also enjoyed the featured musical acts, giving special compliments to the headliners, Balaklava Blues. A Ukrainian band, Balaklava Blues relaid their experiences of a home country at war through evocative music.
The festival culminated in the Sunday service where all gathered together to worship, lead by BAFTA award-winning broadcasters Carrie and David Grant.
