Thanks to all those who joined us and St. Marylebone Parish Church on Aldersgate Sunday on May 24th. It was a joy to once once more gather together in thanksgiving at the Wesley memorial.
Every year on Aldersgate Day we celebrate John Wesley’s ‘conversion’ or, more accurately, his experience of renewal in the Spirit in 1738. The name ‘Aldersgate’ refers to a meeting of the Moravian Church which Wesley attended, during which this renewal and transformation in his faith occured. We commemorate this day as it marks an important turning point in the formation of the Methodist Church.
