Last week was a particularly busy one at Hinde Street as we not only hosted artworks by various local artists in our Community Art Exhibition, but also opened our doors for the 2025 Open House Festival.
Over a period of three days from Thursday 11 September to Saturday 13 September, 216 people visited Hinde Street and took in ‘A Celebration of Colour’ in the form of crochet pieces, paintings, drawings, models and more. With a wide variety of different styles, media, and approaches to colour represented by artists from all skill levels and backgrounds, the church space was transformed to a true community gallery. Children and adult visitors alike were also invited to participate in the exhibition by creating their own improvised artworks on the theme. In addition, Saturday visitors were treated to sweet treats and hot drinks, piano and organ music, and Rev Peter Cornick’s talks on the history and architecture of our Grade II-listed church.
On their part, both ministers and stewards got to enjoy getting to know friendly locals, some of whom had never had the chance visit Hinde Street before. This opportunity to build further connections and community in Marylebone was a wonderful part of the occasion.

The exhibition is a wonderful way of connecting the community. I really enjoyed viewing the pieces which are wonderful all in their own ways. What a wonderful initiative!
