SUMMARY:200th Anniversary Service at King's Cross Methodist Church
DESCRIPTION:You are warmly invited to join a special United Circuit Service at King’s Cross Methodist Church at 11am on Sunday\, December 1st. This service will be held in honour of the 200th anniversary of King’s Cross Church and in celebration of their life and mission. The service will include Holy Communion and will be led by Rev Kong Ching Hii with our Rev Peter Cornick preaching. The sermon will be in English and translated into Mandarin\, and refreshments will be served following worship. \nPlease note that there will be no morning services at Hinde Street either at 9:30am or 11am on this day as we join in the celebration at King’s Cross. SUMMARY:BBC Radio 4's Any Questions? Live at Hinde Street
DESCRIPTION:On January 5th\, BBC Radio 4 will return to Hinde Street with Any Questions?\, a topical panel discussion show which will be broadcast live from our Church hall. \nAs a panel show\, Any Questions? is unique in the sense that the guest speakers do not prepare for questions beforehand. On the day of the broadcast\, the audience submits questions across a range of subjects out of which the producer selects ten to present to the panellists. \nThe programme is broadcast on Radio 4 on most Friday evenings of the year following the 8pm news. The programme is repeated on Saturday lunchtimes at 1.10pm\, and is followed at 2pm by the Any Answers? phone-in which gives listeners a chance to join in the debate by calling or e-mailing Anita Anand. \nTwo of the panellists for the January 5th show have now been confirmed: we will be joined by Fraser Nelson\, editor of The Spectator\, and Ash Sarkar\, contributing editor at Novara Media. \nFind out more about Any Questions? and get your (free!) tickets through the link here. SUMMARY:National Pilgrimage to the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is welcome at Westminster Abbey for the National Pilgrimage to the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor from 9:30am – 4:00pm on Saturday 14th October 2023. The pilgrimage is part of the annual celebration of St Edward the Confessor\, the king and saint whose Shrine lies at the heart of the Abbey. \nPilgrims will be invited to pray at the Shrine and in other spaces in the Abbey. Priests will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation\, and a chapel will be set aside for the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. \nIn this Coronation year there will be a particular focus on calling\, vocation and service\, with pilgrims invited to reflect on Christ\, the Servant King\, whom St Edward served\, and on opportunities for service and discerning vocation and calling in our own lives. \nProgramme: \n9:30am – Abbey opens for pilgrims \n11:30am – Festival Eucharist – Preacher: The Reverend Dr Mark Oakley\, Dean designate of Southwark \n3:00pm – First Evensong of the Dedication of Westminster Abbey \nPilgrims are welcome to attend for all or part of the day. SUMMARY:New EDI Talk - Dementia Shouldn't Be a Lonely Journey
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 27 September\, 7.30 to 8.30pm \nThe South East District are pleased to facilitate a second talk via Zoom on the theme of dementia. The talk will be led by Julie Barnett\, Dementia and Frailty Care Coordinator\, Foundry Healthcare Lewes. Julie has been in this role for almost 5 years. In her talk\, Julie will cover a pathway to diagnosis including signs to be aware of and the range of symptoms that can be experienced\, along with difficulties faced by the person living with dementia and their families / carers. She will also talk about the support that is available through organisations/ groups/ training. \nJulie has kindly offered to take questions on any aspect of dementia/cognition subsequent to her talk. \nEveryone from the Connexion is warmly welcome.
