For the past fifty years or so, we have opened our doors every Wednesday to people who are homeless, or who feel a bit rootless in our city. We make fresh soup and sandwiches, tea and coffee, and sell it all for 10p an item. Later in the evening, local cafes EAT and Bonne Bouche let us have all their unsold sandwiches and cakes, and we give these away to our guests.
It's a good place to hang out, chat, snooze, play table tennis or dominoes, be with friends. There's always someone to talk to. Doors are open from 4.30pm to 8pm every Wednesday. Just turn up!
If you'd like to volunteer in the afternoon (making soup and sarnies) or the evening (serving, clearing up, chatting), contact the minister Val Reid.
